"Well done, Giac!" Barty gave his brother some approval, than shrugged when he looked at Sam. "Sorry. He likes football, he gets excited when he does well." So maybe it was a little condescending to indulge him, but he was his brother. In so many was his little brother. Who, yes, was definitely a giant knobhead, but that didn't mean he couldn't give him some positive attention. Not as if he got much.
"We were going to the caravan. There's a girl there he fancies and she doesn't mind him staring and not talking." It was quite the romance.
"Ah, young love." What girl would ever date Giacomo? All he did was stare and bleed half the time. He watched Giacomo slowly walk over to them and huffed in annoyance. "It's not my fault. If they hadn't nicked my badge... if you hadn't of helped, what would have happened? I didn't ask for someone to supervise, just be contactable. I think that's fair."
Giacomo came over and hung onto the goal post near Sam, staring at him intensely. A good revenge was nice and slow. It took time. It took the perfect amount of ill-ease.
"There's no scenario where I wouldn't have helped," Barty stated, which came quite close to several confessions and statements he wasn't yet ready to make out loud, trying to play at being much more aloof and casual than that. Still, he didn't see why Sam would ever feel that he'd have no one to turn to. "Maybe you can make it up to Giac."
He considered as he looked at Sam, pausing in unwinding the tape. "To me too. You could make next weekend more fun. Come with us."
"What? No. Why would I do that?" He glared at Giacomo, who was currently trying to pull himself up the goal post and failing miserably. Such a weak boy, no wonder Barty was always so worried about him. A nasty breeze could off this idiot. "I-I don't want to."
Giacomo turned to them and glared. Sam should come. He should get to experience the true misery of chaos and fun. Since he was apparently so against it.
"Giac, leave it. If Sam says no, then he means no." Or so Sam always told him. However, Barty found that usually there were still some methods to persuade him differently. He continued on with unwinding the tape, thinking about it while he kept addressing his brother. "We can just go the two of us. You can sit with your girl and I'll sit with Jonathan. Or maybe that Dublin boy that was around last time. He seemed like a lot of fun."
He turned his head to look at Sam and shrugged. "Teenagers. They are all so hormonal. Careful, this is going to hurt." With that he began the last round, pulling the tape off his skin. Now there was only the right wrist left, then Sam would be free.
"What? What boy-- AH!" Sam cursed as the tape yanked off his arm and he winced. Even so, he had an arm free and that was something. Barty was going to go to some traveller party with a Dublin boy or whatever. That wasn't fair. Giacomo would be staring at some pretty girl while Barty was all up against some older, hotter guy. He was definitely older. Had to be.
"Maybe you need someone sensible to stop you from being idiots." Sam huffed in annoyance as he braced himself for the left wrist. "Apparently you all have poor self control."
Giacomo shook his head. He had amazing self control. He hadn't talked for 16 years.
"I think Giacomo has the self control of a toddler," Barty was pretty convinced of that one, "All he's focused on is not talking." What a feat that was. "He'll be actual chaos once he's unleashed, mark my words."
He ran a hand along Sam's chest as he moved over to the other side, beginning to unwind the tape here. "Me, on the other hand?" He leaned in and placed a gentle kiss below Sam's ear. "I have excellent self control."
He was keeping himself from taking advantage right now. Granted, his brother staring at them did help with that. "It'll be fun. Come with us and I'll show you a good time."
"If I come once then I'm allowed to say it's terrible, dangerous and insist on not going back if I want." Sam ordered, already setting up rules. "And you don't drink. Neither of us do." Well, there was a rule that might not last but Sam was determined to try and stick with it. "But fine."
Giacomo fell off the goal post and onto the floor with a small yelp, looking up at his brother with a frown.
"Stop it, Giac. You used to like him." Before Sam had started to mess with his fun and therefore, Giac had decided that Sam was the enemy. It was entertaining, honestly. Also meant that he'd make sure Giac wouldn't go past that line Barty drew around Sam when it came to teasing him.
"I promise, Sam. Scout's honour." Not that he was a scout or had ever been one, but still. He assumed Sam had. "We're about to get to that painful part again. What do you want me to do, rip it slowly or fast?"
"Fast." Sam eyed up Giacomo is annoyance, wondering if he had actually liked him. It was hard to tell. Up until he was 13, he had never seen him give any signs of life. It was only the past couple of years and exclusively around Barty that he saw that Giacomo had something going on in his head. What it was, he had no idea.
As Barty ripped the tape, Sam yelped out in pain and staggered free from the goal post with a pout on his face. "That hurt! And I'm freezing! God sake, what is wrong with people?"
Barty drew Sam in for a hug, rubbing his back in an effort to warm him. If he hadn't already given his jacket to Giac, he'd offer it to Sam now. That's what he got for surrounding himself with two scrawny boys. "Let's get you inside. Hot shower."
Probably the smartest idea, to prevent him from getting sick and so he could warm up properly. "You should consider one too, Giac. If you catch a cold, I'm not taking you with me."
Giacomo's colds were never harmless. He wasn't risking that.
Giacomo shook his head. He was feeling fine today, he had been sick most of October and November so he was feeling like the worst was over and he was unstoppable now. He was recovered. He unzipped his jacket as he walked and took it off, holding it out for Sam to take. Which totally threw Sam off.
"Uh, no way. Mate, keep it." He had also seen Giacomo sick and there was no way in hell he wanted to be the cause of it. "I'm fine. Hot shower is better."
"It's my jacket, Sam. You should put it on." Because clearly that made it better, it being his jacket. Whatever, they were almost inside now anyway. And he did like Sam wearing his jacket, he couldn't deny that. He liked when it smelled a bit like Sam. A lot more appealing than Giac wearing it, anyway. "What else is on your schedule today, Sam? Other than dinner."
Which he felt he should serve Sam in bed so he could avoid those bullies a little longer.
"I don't know, sleep." Sam said as he took the jacket from Giac and shrugged it on. It felt weird to wear another guys coat but it also felt weird to wear shorts outside in winter. He sniffed a little and then considered what he had planned. "Study then sleep. I'm utterly knackered."
Barty probably knew about that because Sam slept very poorly last night. It happened sometimes, he was a restless sort of sleeper.
"We can leave my lamp on. I don't really mind. I want to do some reading anyway." Barty's voice was very neutral as he suggested it, concerned over Sam getting enough sleep. He felt Giacomo giving him a look, either out of amusement or judgement or both, so he glanced at his brother. "Oh, shut up about it. Grow up."
He cared about Sam. He wasn't really trying to keep that a secret, he was just trying to be mature about it and not desperate.
Giacomo pulled a face at them and then shook his head, turning off in the other direction down the hall without so much as a goodbye. Seemed about right.
"Bye." Sam said mostly passive aggressively as he watched the other twin leave. "Hard to believe he has a girlfriend, given his lack of basic manners." Well, some people seemed to manage pulling, even at their lowest. So what did he know? "But thanks, I'm fine. I was just having an off night. Think my brain was too active." And it was pretty embarrassing so he didn't want to discuss it more. "I'm going to go shower, you don't have to come. I assume you were doing something before Giac."
"He's just extremely good-looking, I reckon." That was quite the choice thing to say about one's identical twin, which explained Barty's cheeky grin as he put forth that theory. "People find it very hard to resist. I don't know if you are just immune to it or what..."
Barty shrugged his shoulders, then reached out to put a hand on Sam's shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. "I'll see you after your shower."
